Review of Minutes 

Stephanie Blake, Secretary. Minutes were posted online from 2019, as conference cancelled in 2020. No corrections. Minutes approved 

 

Treasurer’s Report 

Sharon Rush, Treasurer. Separate report of finances and website costs discussed. Current bank account balance reviewed; total conference costs discussed. All monies returned from GWL 

 

Membership Report 

Sharon Rush, Treasurer.  Majority of membership renewed and new sign up through conference this year. > 55 conference registration this year 

  • Request to continue live and virtual conference next year. To be looked into as an option. NANN conference Denver Co (both in person and virtual) 

 

Member-at-Large Report 

Jennifer, Member-at-Large. Discussion of continued ways to maintain “social” updates through email and Facebook media outlets. Only CANNP members can see Facebook post, plan to make public. CANNP is on NANN website, although no link to join as of yet. Continue to promote CANNP through individual institutions.

CANNP 2022 Annual Business Meeting

Welcome and Introduction 

Stephanie Blake, President. Thanked outgoing President and continuing IT and website supporter Patrick Connelly for their service.  Introduced the 2022-2023 board members (see * attached). 

 

Review of Minutes 

Stephanie Blake, President emailed minutes to current members. Amy Jnah made motion to approve and these were accepted with no corrections. 

 

Treasurer’s Report 

Amy Jnah, Treasurer. Reported current bank account balance prior to conference costs. Sharon Rush will send checks and Thank you notes to 2022 Speakers.. 

 

Membership Report 

Sharon Rush, Vice President with Kathy Connelly, Executive member.  

36 current members for 2022. 34 conference registrations received. 

 

Member-at-Large/Media Report 

Jennifer Porter, Member-at-Large. Discussed options for maintaining social media news and updates. Currently, the CANNP Facebook account is only viewable by members and only had ~30 views for latest post. “Gray” Facebook accounts going away 4/22; would be an ideal time to make new page. 

Other social media suggestions: Instagram, LinkedIn; Jenny will look into adding

2023 Conference Planning: 

-options: Great Wolf Lodge or local site near Durham/Chapel HIll 

-will send survey to past/current members about location preference 

-Next conference March 2023 

 -Live (determine site by July, 2022) 

 -Ask NCNA about recorded format also for those unable to attend in person 

   -Judy Philbrook has done live+virtual conference and kept 2 rosters for NCNA 

           -Stephanie and Kristi to visit potential conference sites 

       

        Website and merge from Gmail account 

-Patrick planning to add Board member accounts to website and eliminate gmail account

        -include 3 options for conference location

2020 Conference:  Next year’s conference to be at different location outside of RDU with plan to return to RDU area in 2021. Discussed returning to Great Wolf Lodge as previous conference attendee numbers were high. CANNP Board will continue to assume oversight and secure podium presenters, vendors and venue. Facebook blast/Web/Email update will follow once dates booked 

Open discussion: Future goals discussed based on member feedback including different location beside Hilton when conference back in RDU as venue was small for the amount of attendees. Continue to work on collaboration with ANN, NANN to market CANNP conference on their website

CANNP 2018 Annual Business Meeting

Welcome & Introduction:  Kathy Connelly, President introduced the 2016-2018 members of the board.

Review of Minutes:  Stephanie Blake, Secretary.  Minutes were posted at conference.  No corrections.  Minutes approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  Sharon Rush.  Taxes have been filed at no cost to association. Separate report of finances and website costs discussed. Current bank account balance reviewed, total conference costs pending.   

Membership Report:  Sharon Rush, Treasurer See attached.  Discussed positive responses from e-distribution of membership information, conference announcements. Membership card distribution to commence shortly after conference adjourns.  Discussed including membership in conference fee. Plan for easier registration and dues payment for next conference.

Membership-at-Large Report:  Desi Newberry, Member at Large. Discussion of “social” update and membership suggested increased use of social media. Discussed using email and Facebook as media outlets for promotion of CANNP. CANNP is now on NANN website, but no link to join as of yet (in progress). Further discussions regarding reaching out to ANN and individual institutions for promotion.

Presentation of Awards: Revamped awards from scholarship and research awards to poster and research awards (See attached). Schools of nursing will be contacted to solicit podium presenters. Membership encouraged to consider submitting an abstract.

Research Award: Desi Newberry received research grant award this year, and will present a poster at the 2019

Poster Presentations: 1.  Courtney Austin, RN, BSN and Meghan Bjerke, RN, BSN. 2. Meghan Cooper, RN, BSN. 3. Sarah Dearman, RN, MSN. 4. Sherry LeBlanc, MSN, NNP-BC

                                   

New Business:

1.       CANNP Website. Upgraded/updated website, online registration and payments for conference attendees to be improved

2.       Contact Hour Offerings. Online CEU offerings via CANNP website. Members encouraged to contact Kathy Connelly with interest in creating CEU modules

3.       Awards revamped from scholarship and research ($1000 each) to poster and research. Research award to remain $1000 with poster award to be divided into 4 $250 amounts to total $1000. Anyone can submit a poster. Due date for poster/research application’s October 1, 2018.

4.       Future Conference Planning. Conference to stay within RDU area and held in March timeframe for next 2 years, to offer continuity and predictability for membership. Consider Great Wolf lodge for 3rd year as greatest attendance at this venue.  CANNP Board will continue to assume oversight and secure podium presenters, vendors, and venue. Facebook Blast/Web/email update will follow once dates are booked.

5.       Open Discussion. Future goals discussed based upon member feedback, which included: (1) increased use of social media, (2) increased exhibitor access to CANNP meeting information, (3) increased collaboration with NANN, ANN to market CANNP conference on their website.

Welcome & Introduction:  Judy Philbrook, President introduced the 2016-2018 members of the board.

Review of Minutes:  Amy Jnah, Secretary.  Minutes were posted at conference.  No corrections.  Minutes approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  Sharon Rush.  Taxes have been filed at no cost to association. Separate report of finances and website costs discussed. Current bank account balance reviewed, total conference costs pending.   

Membership Report:  Judy Philbrook, President.  See attached.  Discussed positive responses from e-distribution of membership information, conference announcements. Hard copy fliers to lead RN Manager/NNP Lead at each hospital will continue. Membership card distribution to commence shortly after conference adjourns.  

Membership-at-Large Report:  Christine Rowland, Member at Large.  Preparing newsletter for June.  Need practice updates from units and educational offerings; reviewed what constitutes practice site update. Solicited members to write short article for newsletter. Discussion of “social” update and membership suggested increased use of social media.

Presentation of Awards: Peer recognition award to be retired effective immediately (last awarded in 2009). Scholarship award to include individuals who submit abstracts for posters/podium presentations. Call for abstracts deadline July 1, 2017. Schools of nursing will be contacted to solicit podium presenters. Membership encouraged to consider submitting an abstract.

Scholarship awards given to 4 poster presenters: Jodi Amador, DNP; Courtney McDaniel, NNP; Ellie Ward, NNP; Brittany Chesnee, NNP.

New Business:

1.       CANNP Website. Upgraded/updated website, online registration and payments for conference attendees

Treasurers Report:  Sharon Rush. Taxes have been filed at no cost to association. PayPal account is working well. Separate report of finances and PayPal costs provided. Attendance for this year’s conference is ~80 participants.

Membership Report:  Judy Philbrook, President. See attached. Discussed updating email roster for members and increasing e-distribution of membership information, conference announcements. Send hard copy fliers to lead RN Manager/NNP Lead at each hospital.

Presentation of Awards:  Scholarship award given to Kayla Wyrick, to be used to support her DNP studies with Grand Canyon University and NC hospital(s).

New Business: 2017 Conference in Greenville area. (Dates pending). Lead planner: Tara Stroud. Discussed history of alernating between NC and SC, as able based upon sites who volunteer to host.

Awards: Reminder to members to nominate peer for CANNP Peer Award. No submissions for 2016.

Future Conferences: Members provided positive feedback regarding topics, speakers and vendors.

Members discussed request for earlier notification of conference dates, location and theme.

Continuing Education: coming soon will be a members ’only opportunity for CEU’s on Radiology/XRay interpretation offered by Lee Shirland. In production, anticipate 2016 release.

Members discussed potential for CANNP involvement with statewide practice issues (specifically, reducing CEU requirement for NC NNPs).

Lee Shirland discussed benefits to national membership through NANNP and nationalactivity related to standardizing CEU requirements for NNPs throughout the USA.

CANNP 2015 Annual Business Meeting

 

Welcome & Introduction:  Judy Philbrook, President introduced the members of the board.

Review of Minutes:  Kathy Connelly, Secretary.  Minutes were posted at conference.  No corrections.  Minutes approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  Judy Philbook.  Taxes have been filed at no cost to association thanks to Tara Marion Short’s mother.  PayPal account is now in working order.  For the report see attached.  Attendance for this year’s conference is 56 participants, 11 for only one day and 12 for skills lab.

Membership Report:  Judy Philbrook, President.  See attached.  Kathy Connelly to call hospitals in our association area to obtain a name of a contact person in each NICU in order to try to reach more NNP’s to join.

Membership-at-Large Report:  Sharon Rush, Member at Large.  Preparing newsletter for June.  Need practice updates from units and educational offering for June and Jan.

Presentation of Awards:

               Plaque to be presented to Alisa Starbuck for her service on the CANNP board form 2006-2014 and to Tara Marion Short for her service from 2012-2014.

Old Business:

               PayPal:  Up and running for membership dues and conference fees.

New Business:

               2016 Conference in Chapel Hill/Durham area.  (Date added after business meeting-April 21 & 22, 2016).  Felicia Soza from UNC taking lead

               2017 Conference-Looking at the possibility of Asheville hosting-??? To follow up

Future Conferences:  Discussed making conference 1 day vs. 2 days.  Consensus of the group is to keep the conference 2 days

Lectures were recorded from this conference to post on the members only site for those who did not attend to earn CEU’s

Also coming soon to CANNP website will be a members only opportunity for CEU’s on Radiology/XRay interpretation offered by Lee Shirland.

We also ask that members who are willing to share their talks/educational offerings they have prepared  to be posted on the CANNP website for others to take advantage of getting credit

Elections for 2016-2018 term-Felicia Soza has agreed to collect nominations starting in October.  Term begins the first of the year.
